You should blow air into one of the heater hoses so that you push out ALL of the coolant from the heater core. I found a neat way to do that...I bought a valve for a tire and it fit snuggly inside the hose after disconnecting it from the engine. I then used a bike tire pump and pumped air into it through the valve and got all the coolant out.
Also, getting the door to open on the container that wraps the heater core is not easy. You need to find a special tool to do the job. I don't know how to describe the one that I used but it had a sharp pointed end so that it could open up the tabs. Not easy.
Post here for more help, I've done this myself. Sadly, I took pictures and wanted to document this but couldn't get around to it and I can't do that now. If you need more help, I'll try to do a write up on it.
