Dramatic but not...coolant loss question Posted by MarcD [Email] (#835) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MarcD) on Sun, 28 Feb 2016 14:21:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello!
2002 9-3 154k
Today driving home from the store with my wife and steam starts to billow from the front driver's side of the hood. Stopped and popped the hood, found most of the driver's side of the engine wet. Coolant reservoir still had coolant but clearly had lost some, it is right about the point where the float is for the low coolant sensor.
The good news is there weren't any bubbles coming up through the remaining coolant so I'm hoping it isn't the head gasket.
I didn't see any signs of coolant spray or dripping with the engine running. Could it be that the cap just gave up the ghost? There wasn't any pressure released when I opened it to check for bubbles.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
