Viggen drivability and engine question Posted by Adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Adam) on Thu, 12 May 2016 04:55:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a question regarding Viggen drivability.
A few months ago I picked up a decent example of an '01 viggen 2 door and now that I have the front end sorted, I'm wondering what the deal is with some engine stuff.
With the vig, the power delivery is basically either "I'm going way too slow in grandma's old car..." or "holy s$%t I'm going to drive up the rear of that Corrolla 800' in front of me!". The guy a bought it from did a handful of things to it that I can see. It does have an open air cone style intake filter. I have not looked close enough to see if the waste gate was swapped for a blow off valve, but it does make a good bit more noise when the turbo pressure dumps than a stock setup. Not sure if this is just do to the cone filter.
The other thing that's weird is the throttle seems to blip a bit when clutching. You depress the clutch and you get a 100-200 rpm or so rise. I've never had this action in any of my other cars. The plate in the throttle body looked clean enough too. I've done due diligence to make sure it's not just me tapping the throttle with out realizing it.
It's also throwing an evap system code. I've poked around quickly to see if anything was missing (changed the gas cap) and I didn't see anything obvious.
Any ideas?
