2000 9-3 215K miles.
A few days ago the ABS warning lights came on. The fluid level was low so I topped it up and pumped the brake a few times. Still had the lights. It being the holiday weekend I headed home and noticed the speedometer was also not working. After about 10 highway miles the lights went out and the speedo came on. Everything seems to be working well and I can't see any obvious loose wire, etc.
When starting in the morning it's fine. After I stop and start again the lights come on and speedo fails. Again it corrects itself. Could the problem be in the SID and not the ABS? Or is there another connection between the ABS and Speedometer? I can't imagine where else the two might connect. I'll certainly have the brake lines flushed and re-filled if it's necessay, but I wonder if the problem might be somewhere else.
A month ago the temp guage wasn't working (sometimes). When I stopped the car and started it again it corrected itself. My mechanic determined it was the guage and not the thermostat. It seems to be ok now. A couple years ago all the sounds stopped. I was told that was in the SID and could be re-programmed. However, I opted for the quiet.
Could all these be SID related?
Thanks for any help.
