Springs - Europe vs. US

I've been doing a lot of research into springs as of late -
trying to find something that's really designed to work
with a 97 SET convertible (higher weight, more flex than a
coupe). Along the way, I talked with a rep out at H&R. He told me
that they didn't make springs for US based Saabs - evidentally
the weight difference would require a different spring that
European version. This got me thinking... when I was at the Eibach
site, there were no springs available if I specified the US.
If I indicated that I was in Europe then they had springs available.
It puzzled me at the time but now I assume that it was due to the
weight diff cited by the H&R rep.
Thoughts ? Does this make sense ? Is the fact that the European
car is lighter (assumption, I have no specs) the reason that
everyone who uses Eibachs on NG900's in the US says they are
"soft" ?
thanks for any opinions,
bob
