Thanks Walt. In regard to 1. I only know of four o-rings in the system, one that seals the pickup tube to the oil pan, two that seal the oil cooler inlet and outlet, and the big o-ring that seals the oil pump. All were replaced with new. By transfer tube I assume you mean the supply and return lines from the oil cooler to the filter housing. Pretty sure I got 2 and 3 right. I did not do 4 but I will. Regarding 5. I made sure the little metal peg was in place to keep the pump cover in position. I found this small part in the bottom of my parts wash pan and it took some time to sort out where it belonged. I did 6 correctly. For number 7 I installed a new spring. I also installed a new thermostat and spring. I like your testing recommendations in 8. I am still curious about how the oil gets to the cooler. Does it only flow to the cooler when the oil gets hot enough to open the thermostat? Should I have pre-filled the oil cooler before hooking up to the filter housing?
