Dean: Yes, the classic 900's required a brake tool to back off the piston far enough to get the new pad in. The pistons have four "dimples" on it's face. The tool is a flat bar with two lugs that fit into the dimples and you could crank the piston in as if using a ratchet. This could all be done without removing the calipers. Sounds as if the ng900's brake service is identical to a GM car.
