I agree with Anders. I own a 2000 9-3 base model (U.S. spec) with manual transmission and when my ABS control unit went out, I removed it myself, mailed it to BBA for them to repair and I had it back in 2 days. It as worked for 5 years since.
It is a little crowded to get to two of the 6 Torx bolts to remove the ABS unit, but there are instructions on this board (just search for "remove ABS") that tell how to make it easier by removing a couple of other parts in the way.
