Dean,
I left some important info out: I have a 96 900S non-turbo.
I just parked my car on an incline to try and get a better view of what is going on. This is what I saw: The exhaust starts up near the engine where I can't see exactly...then the pipe comes aft a bit and there is a clamp. Then after the clamp there is a braided looking piece that is about 8 inches long that is slightly larger in diameter than the pipe...then there is more pipe heading aft until just before the converter where there is a clamp and then the converter. The leak or loud noise definitely sounds as if it is coming upstream from the converter.
Is there a part up there that commonly fails, or did i punch a random hole in some part of the exhaust (obviously you can't know for sure, but any predictions based on experience are good :).
Does all of the exhaust system upstream from the converter have to be replaced if one part fails...or can it be done piece by piece?
Thanks again,
Brian
