Best way to flush cooling system?? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 15 May 2017 17:49:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My plan, at this time, is to:
1) drain old coolant,
2) remove thermostat and reconnect housing,
3) fill system with distilled water,
4) run engine briefly with heater on High,
5) drain,
6) repeat steps 3 thru 5 four more times
7) blow out Heater Core lines
8) then tackle replacing the Heater Line O-rings
9) replace thermostat
10) Fill system with 1 gallon of fresh Saab Blue coolant and one gallon distilled water. Top off with 50:50 mix after engine runs to full operating temps and cools.
Any easier/quicker way to D-I-Y this job? Car currently contains two year old chartreuse green antifreeze.
Thanks,
