UGH. WTF. I am at my wits end chasing front sun roof drain leaking out the top of drivers side a-pillar. I 've tried compressed air. no difference. I've tried pushing a wire through the sunroof drain hole and got to about 2/3 of the way down the door past the a pillar. Poured fresh water down and finally saw it exit the bottom of the car.
2 weeks later. SAME SH**#. dripping onto my lap from the top of the A-pillar. Today i pushed wire down again, and again poured some fresh water in, and this time POURING into the cabin from that spot, which i assume now means all my pushing has made it worse. like, as in i am imagining there are tube connections that i might have pushed looser that were already to blame ?
so NOW WHAT?
a) get rid of the car (soooo tempted)
b) fill the drain hold at the sunroof channel with RTV and let it drain out the rear. (i don't see why that wouldn't work though it is obviously the last resort)
c) carefully remove headliner, and go deep into the a pillar, possibly removing rocker panel and performing a difficult extraction, and renewal of drain hoses, possibly removing sunroof too. (This option is NOT gonna happen, car is no longer worth it/ i don't have the time).
ok so thanks for letting me vent!!!
Was there a question in there? Hm.. yes i guess so... I am seriously considering irrecovably rtv-ing that front sunroof hole drivers side. any stories of that working or not working?
I know it's a hack, but its' that or dump the car. Can't keep putting money into it any more.
Thanks!
Brad.
