Hello,
Being someone that has owned a few of these cars I will add a little to the other posts. I think they are fun to drive. So I would test drive it to check out the feel of the car.
The sludge issue is a major problem and I would want to know that the pan was pulled even with a great service record. Other than that it is know for needing crank sensors and di cassettes changed from time to time. And it is very possible a throttle body will be needed at some time also. And maybe an ac compressor. The automatic transmission is extremely reliable.
Now the price seems high. For that price I would want all of the above listed items to be new. Also I would want the interior to be completely spotless and the seat leather to be perfect and supple. The body would need to be completely rust free including everything underneath. It would also need to be accident free with perfect paint.
For example I picked up an 03 convertible which is the same body style for about $1000. It needed an engine and had about 80,000 miles on it. The body has some small door dings and scratches and the top only has a year or two left. The interior is way above average with only some minor scratches. I had an extra engine and have numerous spare parts from several I have parted out when there bodies rusted away. Good Luck, Bernie
