Screw It, I was after the SID anyway Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 2 Jun 2019 09:55:11 In Reply to: How to remove radio?? 2000 9-3, MI-Roger [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 2 Jun 2019 09:34:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I used the antique dinner knife approach to remove the SID directly. Worked like a charm! Antique dinner knives often have extremely thin blades.
I will caution others that the my fingers were barely long enough to remove the HVAC controller. The downside of short fingers. You need to remove the outer two button blanks beneath the HVAC Controller, insert one finger in each hole, find the prominent ridge on the bottom side of the controller, and push it forward with your fingers.
Something is still wrong with the radio cage. I inserted a thin blade putty knife all around the perimeter of the radio unit as I was sliding the head out of the dash. Could not avoid that metallic sounding hard stop!
