When I was moving from a 900S to a 9-3, I knew I wanted the 5 door (4 door + hatch), and then I deeply researched each year’s changes. For me, the 2001 was the 9-3SE at its best: kinks in earlier models had been eliminated, and interior/vehicle wasn’t downgraded as they did for the 2002 “Anniversary” (or?) Edition. I drove each year, and the ‘01 SE was absolutely it for me. If I were repurchasing today, I’d go for a Viggen, but I LOVE driving and the 5 door SE. Good news: after searching for comps for past two months, I found A LOT of convertibles and Viggens out there, very few ‘01 SE Premium Pkg models in good shape. So I’d find the best Viggen I could afford. (Only convertibles that wow me are two to three seaters from ‘57-60’s...none are Saabs.) Good luck!
