I have an issue with my daughters AC. The symptoms started like this: The AC stopped working when the car was hot. When cold, and only when cold, the compressor will cycle on and compress. AC temperature is very cold and remains so for about 10 minutes. After that the cooling ends and the compressor stops compressing/cuts off. When I attempted to add R134 it initially proved impossible because the compressor would not cycle on and pull in the R134. I was able to add some R134 by beginning with a cold engine. It was low but once filled (one pound added)the problem remained. I then replaced the magnetic coil. The problem is now worse with the compressor only cycling on and immediately cycling off (from cold)-no 10 minutes of relief. It appears that the system is fully charged ??-the gauge reads very high when connected which is attributed to compressor not engaging by my AC repair guy. I replaced the clutch insitu without removing the compressor. I reused the pulley and the friction end plate. Air gap is, I believe, correct . Any ideas?
