Hi, I posted about this a while ago, but since then I've done some work on the car to chase this issue with no avail. So far I've replaced the sway bar end links, front struts and mounts (replaced professionally), engine/trans mounts, and inner tie rod bushings on the steering rack. The ball joints are not terribly old in terms of mileage and are maybe only a few years old.
When driving over bumps, it sounds like something is loose right in front of me and I get a knock sound. It doesn't seem exclusive to one side or another. The car feels good otherwise and handles fine. If I push down on the front end while parked I'm not getting any sounds.
Does this sound like a loose subframe possibly? What I've read is that the loose subframe shows itself when starting driving backwards or starting out forward because it slightly shifts fore/aft. This problem is directly related to bumps. I have not tried retorquing the subframe yet because I was wary of stories I've seen of people snapping bolts or having issues with threads, etc.
Any thoughts, please? Thanks!
Ian
