I've had no issues obtaining parts recently for my 2001 Viggen. This spring I had to replace a control arm (bad ball joint), a strut mount and an axle boot. The Viggen uses the 9-5 axles and a lot of the suspension is common among the 9-3 lineup. I also finally snagged one of the new factory DICs and put my original one the shelf for a spare. About the only part that caused some pain was one of the front jack covers, $50+ for the part and $65 to have it painted.
For US shoppers, I've personally used: Napa, O'Reilly, Parts Plus, RockAuto, FCP Euro, Taliaferro Imports, AutoZone, Goldwing... It pays to hunt around a little bit. For example, your local parts place is a good source for remanufactured stuff, although RockAuto is also good. If I want high quality or close to factory original, the local places are typically not worth the trouble. The specialty online shops only seem to have new parts, while places like Goldwing of course only have used.
With regard to specific country challenges, there are re-shipper services available and many eBay sellers will ship worldwide.
Anyway, the parts are out there.
Side note, I recommend keeping your old parts. Great for comparisons, research, etc. Or if you're desperate, paying to have it repaired...
