0.52 amp parasitic draw! Posted by Jason 5W-30 [Email] (#2180) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Jason 5W-30) on Fri, 8 Apr 2022 17:32:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all,
I noticed the battery in my car would discharge rapidly and in checking for current draw with the ignition off, I found a 0.52 amp parasitic draw!
I checked all the circuits with the method found here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRcj1fQcWwU
and none of the circuits showed any excessive current draw.
From my research, it could be failed diodes in the alternator, what do you guys think?
I'll try testing the diodes tomorrow as per this video:

What's the best option for a rebuilt alternator, one of those rebuilt Bosch units?
Thanks,
Jason
