oil pressure light still going off when lifting off gas pedal Posted by Saabu [Email] (#1133) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabu) on Mon, 31 Jul 2023 07:04:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
previously posted this inquiry back in March (when weather was quite a bit colder!).

i've tried the thicker oil, adding Lucas oil stabilizer, raising the idle speed via Tech 2, and most recently swapped a different throttle body onto the car. Still getting the oil light when i take my foot off the gas (NOT when i press on the brake pedal) and engine rpm drops to idle.
Obviously to anyone running one of these cars or a C900, this sounds like a classic case of a vacuum leak symptom, but differs in the fact that the engine RPM does not drop dangerously low ie 500 RPM.
The pan was dropped and pickup tube inspected within 2 years so its definitely not that. Engine is not as noisy as it was so i dont think its the balance shaft issue either. Also put in an aftermarket CPS recently as well.
Seems from what i've read that oil pressure switches simply dont fail, but i'm running out of ideas and did buy a switch just in case. Maybe a new switch would reduce the liklihood of the alarm going off?
TIA,
