Re: Things to watch out for on a used 2002 9-3? Posted by mio [Email] In Reply to: Things to watch out for on a used 2002 9-3?, JerseySaab |
"I think an '02 9-3 has a 2 liter Saab engine with the red ignition cassette (T5)?"
I believe the 2002 9-3s were all T7s so it would have a black ignition cassette.
"Aside from the usual used car things to watch out for what specifics should I be looking for?"
Determine if PCV update #6 has been done.
"The car is known to have a headlight out (bulb? relay?) and the ABS light is on (wheel sensor?)"
It could certainly be a bad bulb but if a new one doesn't change the situation then the orange relay (4109070) is likely bad. I would also check the 10A fuse. You could get another relay or you could try to reflow the solder joints in the original one.
The ABS light certainly could be due to a faulty wheel sensor which could be checked via a Tech 2. I have a 2001 9-3 and my Tech 2 uses software version 148.000.
"As far as I can see the CANDI adapter and TIS2000 should not be needed on a 2002 model."
That is correct.
