I use the same drive cycle for all Saab's and Volvo's. Some year and models takes about 3-4 miles to complete, some models take maybe 10 miles and some with weak catalytic converters or something else might not set at all but weeks later set a fault code instead.
It's a complete hit and miss from car to car.
So, what was the code the smog station saw about the MIL comment? Or did they just mean that all smog monitors had not set to Ready?
