I just remembered that I also ended up with the vol 5.2 for MY96 when I was buying my manuals, so here's the real poop:
pin 26 - RF to Motronic 2.10.3, 2.8.1, 5.2, 4.1, Trionic, TCS
pin 25 - LF to cruise control, TCS
pin 24 - RR to TCS, cabriolet
pin 23 - LR to speedometer, TCS, sensonic
The voltage should vary 0 to 12V when the appropriate wheel is rotated.
The manual also states that a multimeter set to AC should read a voltage greater than 100mv at the two conductors on the wheel sensor when the wheel is rotated at 1 turn/second.
