Ok, sooo quite a few people think we should not have bought our cars. Well hindsight is 20/20. If I had the option then to buy a 98 for what I payed 2 years ago for my 95 maybe I would have bought it. Do your research make sure the recalls have been performed. Make sure the top works correctly, (read, smoothly and quietly). For those of us stuck with these totally undesirable convertibles here are some tips that I have posted here before. Anytime you raise or lower the top, make sure the engine is running. If at all possible keep the revs at about 1,200-1,300 rpm. This will insure that the electric motors get plenty of amperage. The revs at 1,200 - 1,300 are a guess. I am not sure where the alternator cuts in, maybe around 1,100. Anyways, try it, you will see and hear the top go up and down much smoother and faster. The worst thing you can do to an electric motor is not provide enough amps. I just don't think the battery can do it, especially if you have the lights on, fan going, radio on etc. I am talking long term here. So, if the top goes up smoother there is less chance of the gearing and mounting points flexing and stressing. Try it Mikey you'll like it. If you want to try it, go for it, if not don't. It has worked great for me. Good luck and enjoy.
regards,
Bryan C
