I agree about the finish. It should be painted. But as for fit, these are minor problems. All that you need are some heavy washers. And if the old fasteners are in rough shape, you will need to replace them if you are using SAS or Abbott. So it all boils down to pocket change in washers and or nuts and bolts. So it is really not a big deal. Some will not care about the finish etc. Others probably would not notice the fastener details on the SAS or Abbott product install.
I try to provide enough info to allow folks to find their own way. I was not trying to scare folks away.
As for the discussion about bolt sizes... Do use bigger bolts if they will fit. The larger bars are very stiff and will impose much higher loads on the bolts than the stock config. I had a mind set on getting 8mm bolts, and in hind sight, that was dumb. If the SS bolts do not hold a preload, I will replace them with larger ones.
For $125, the SAS bar is a real bargan. Don't sweat the cost of 4 heavy washers.
