There isn't any power below 2000, so you don't gain anything by running that low. You may simply be feeling the engine vibration.
Be careful in trying to remove cylinder carbon. If it comes off in chunks of any appreciable size there is the risk of a piece getting caught between the valve and it's seat, and definitely a risk of those pieces plugging up the cat. converter. They have to go somewhere when they leave the engine.
