First alt went at 29,000 miles - electrical failure. Second alt went at 59,000 miles - bearing failure. Saab paid for alternator - I paid for labor. Reason ??? Maybe excess heat - it's located close to exhaust. The Bosch alt in our '92 Slovo 240 is fine at 123,000 miles. Too bad Saab didn't use a GM / Delco alternator - at least replacements would have been cheap . . .
