I agree that the relief valve needs to be inspected. I had one get stuck open on an Opel GT. It probably got stuck because I was using 30W oil in cold weather. And you added an oil thickener. So there is a similarity.
The pump will not likely be the probem.
Perhaps a intake screen plugged with crap.
I don't think that an oil flush will fix this problem. You are in real danger of searious engine damage. If the oil pressure relief valve is at fault you could fix that. Otherwise you need to get the oil pan pulled or the pump inspected. That will be serious dealer work. If you are not prepared or comfortable with doing the relief valve your self, I think that you should get towed to the dealer. Driving the vehicle may cause serious damage. With the oil pressure restored, you may get the hydraulic lifters and chain tensioner pumped up and the other extraneous noises my go away.
I would place my money on the relief valve. It seems like an obvious thing, and it is easy to get to. So it should be the first thing examined. You oil filter could be bad too.
The pump will simply work or will fail.
So change the oil with dyno and put in a new filter, and do the valve. Then take it from there. Don't invest in Mobil One until you get this resolved.
Remember that the oil pressure switch is not telling you that you have proper pressure and flow. It is simply telling you that the pressure is above or below about 7 psi. So if it goes out at 2000 rpm you may have 10 psi of pressure.
Please keep us informed of your progress!
