It was on my wife's Honda Civic we bought new shortly after we were married. I had changed the oil and noticed as I was putting the new oil filter on that the old gasket was still in place. I was lucky to catch it before ever starting the car, as I have an old habit of always wiping the oil filter housing surface clean before putting on the new filter. I got lucky. I always swipe the new oil filter gasket with a light coat of oil before installing, so I have no idea how the old gasket stuck in the first place. Knowing me, I probably over-tightened the old filter and squeezed all the oil off the surface of the gasket, which caused it to stick.
