AFAIK, The shift up light is unique to the US, but that doesn't mean it can be turned off via the Tech II. Some dealers have even refused to do it for people with 9-3's (as reported here) since they think it's "against the law" or something... Just like ripping the tag off your mattress! ;-)

Non-US instrument clusters probably have the bulb taken out already (since it's a slight different instrument panel that is shown in kilometers anyway).

The Trionic box is what is turning the light on and off (via pin #55 which goes only from the box to the light and nowhere else). Since Saab tweaks the Trionic software from country to country and year to year it doesn't surprise me that they can turn the shift up light function on or off FROM THE FACTORY. BUT, the important question is... can it be turned off LATER via the dealer with the Tech II? Saab has even added and taken away programming options over the years since the Tech II software is updated on a quarterly basis.

In short, it remains to be proven that the shift up light on a NG900 can be turned off via the Tech II...
