Hi Jeremy, you are quite correct in the rpm on the 900 kicking in at about 2000 rpm. I took a '98 900SE for test drive yesterday and, WOW, pulling off in first and flooring the pedal, the Turbo literally shoves you back in your seat. Even in 2nd or third with the pedal flat to the floor, around 2000 -2250 rpm I can feel the turbo going to work. Considering I live outside Johannes burg where we are at approximatley 4 700 ft above sea level, the 900 is still awesome.

The '95 900 I test drove and which prompted my posting a message on the bulletin board most definitley must have leaks in the turbo plumbing as it does not kick in nearly as obviously as the '98 900 SE. I can buy the '95 for about half the cost of the '98. Which in our currency is R60 000(Rand)+- $5,260 for the '95 and R129 000 (+- $11,300) for the '98. Normal servicing is around R2000 ($ 175) with a major service going up to R3500 ($ 307)at an official SAAB dealer. The '95 has 11000KM on the clock and the '98 has 84000 on the clock. So, I reckon with some checking out, the '95 is a good buy as even if i had to replace the Turbo, it will still come in under R 75 000 ($ 6,600), which is the asking price that I will knock down or insist the Turbo plumbing is sorted out for the R75 000 asking.

The rest of the car is immaculate and is as good as the '98, which by the way does not have the factory fitted sun roof either. This is another R 8 000 ($ 700) of additional value in the '95.

So all of you guys who responded, Dean, Jeremy R, Ben Y, Mark and Stuey, thanks for the assistance.

Have a restful Sunday

Bill
