Think about it this way. SAAB took the engine, made and engineered for turbocharging, and removed the turbo. Result is an overachiever of a motor, that is damn near impossible to break.

GM would take an under-engineered non-turbo motor and slap on a turbocharger--resulting in -----the Buick Grand National debacle ??????????? HMMMMMMMMM
