Chris L, I just got the manual about a month ago, I'll check it out. This is why I need a "basic car repair techniques" type book or website, to fill in these little gaps.

V6Vert: Hmmmmm..... How could, overnight, too much gas get into the injector (?), or the combustion chamber; or, how could the ECU send more gas and/or less air to the engine on a cold start, or, could there be a situation where incomplete ignition is taking place b/c the plugs are cold? remember, only on the -first- start, not any starts thereafter, even if only 3 seconds later. Is there a sensor attached to the plugs?

Another thought from an amateur: when the plugs are cold and/or out of gap, the ignition may not be complete, leading to a situation where not all gas is ignited (?)(which would account for the gas smell in my oil, blow-by gasses). I'm going to check the plug gap, the Bosch are two pronged, and as I've recently learned, you can check the gap with a wire gap tool, not the usual feeler guage. Maybe on the second start, the plugs are now hot, rectifying any cold start problem? (BTW, the (?) means "I know I probably sound like a dummy, but you can't blame a guy for trying")

Thanks for the exhaust suggestion, I'm going to keep it stock and cheap, we look at it as more of a econo-luxury car than a sporty car, plus in Illinois we have to pass emissions testing.

Hey, if they can offer a lifetime guarantee on a replacement muffler, why not just put the replacement muffler on the car in the first place? Huh? Huh?
