I checked around for cast replacement valve covers and did not find any but I did find "Valve Cover Chrome Tabs" at carparts.com. They are metal tabs 1 1/2" long with a hole for the vc bolts - "Helps distribute the surface area load evenly along the valve cover rails - also prevents leaking and warping." 4 in a pack for $5.00. Maybe worth a try?
