DI retaining screws like to come loose, even when torqued to spec. A loose DI will even rattle. The DI has a ground wire in the harness so any further ground through the case may not be nessesary. Although a poor case ground would be suspect for EMI affects or what ever. Afterall the spark does have to return to the DI some how and returning through the ground wire may not be the best path.
