Long cranking after fuel filter change.

I changed my fuel filter this past weekend on my '96 900S 5 speed. I followed the recommended procedure of removing the fuel pump fuse and letting the engine run out of fuel before disconnecting the old filter. Now I need to crank the engine for awhile to get it to start. It always started almost instantly before. The car runs fine after it starts. I have three theories:
1) There is a check valve somewhere that went through it's stroke when the system was depressurized, and now the valve won't seat properly, or
2) I still have an air pocket somewhere that will have to work itself out, or
3) The FPR went through it's stroke and now is not regulating properly or maintaining pressure after engine shut-off.
I've searched and read some of the previous posts about FPR failures, but it seems strange that it would happen simultaneously with the filter change.
I do plan to use some Techron in the next tank in case I have some dirt under a valve seat somewhere.
Does anyone know if there are check valves in this system?
Thanks
Rick
