The steering rack on the NG900/9-3 is bolted to the firewall. The steering rack brackets have large rubber bushings in them. The combination of flex in the rubber bushings and flex from the firewall allow the steering rack a considerable amount of movement. This movement translates to the car making 'steering' adjustments by itself when under load. This results in constantly changing steering inputs and is most noticable under hard acceleration and in hard cornering.

The Abbott Racing and KIC steering rack braces eliminate the movement of the steering rack in its mounts. They do that be replacing one of the steering rack brackets and it accompanying rubber bushing with a solid precision machined aluminum bracket. This stops the steering rack from moving in the rubber bushings by clamping it solidly to the firewall. To help prevent the firewall from flexing, a rod or strut is added between the new aluminum bracket and the wheel well.

There are also issues with the tracking control arm bushings being too compliant for good aggressive, driving. Both Abbott Racing and KIC offer polyurethane bushings to address this issue.

I can not answer your question about installation as I had Scanwest AutoSport here in Seattle install my steering rack brace and bushings when they installed the new Koni Sport front struts.
