In theory I agree with your statement about it is not good to jack up the car from the center of the axle.
HOWEVER, most of the time I lift the rear of the vehicle it is from this position. So far there has not been any damage that I can tell. And yes, the alignment was checked after installing Swidish Dynamics springs. I had something like 2.5 degrees of negative camber but the toe was still in spec.
As for tire wear, I rotate the tires at a maximum of every 5k miles, usually closer to 3k, plus have snow tires; I have yet to replace either the summer or winter tires. I have been using these for 3-4 years now.
