I'm a little suspicious with only 60k. My clutch cable snapped a year ago and replaced it with an OES cable (@ a local shop) from the dealer. The adjuster on it didn't do its job as the clutch was floored and it was grinding gears. The shop replaced it with another cable from the same dealer and it was better but not great. 4 Months later, it snapped again! This time I was fed up and ordered my OWN cable from eeuroparts.com and replaced it myself and has been holding since last April. The GM/SAAB NG900 design should never have gone with the cable design as it has posed many problems. I think I just recieved a bad batch of cables. I was able to get SAAB to reimburse me for purchasing my own cable and just received the check a few weeks ago. My guess is there are bad cables out there, you may have one of them.
BTW, is your clutch stiff? if it is it is putting extra stress on the cable and the nub the hooks onto the manual linkage assembly will pop off.
In addition, my throwout bearing is toast as it is making a grinding/spindling sound that can be felt through the pedal. Next is an entire clutch job. The viggen clutch is $20 cheaper from eeuroparts.com so when I get some cash, that will be the next project.
BTW, how long can I drive on my worn throw out bearing until a break down? $1000 is a good chunk of change that is not attainable at this point.
