So I woke up today and limped outside to find the dreaded haze on a few panels (hood, roof, C pillar). I really had to put muscle into it the other day off but the sun set hours ago and I decided it looked good by the moonlight. My application wasnt the best, it was tough to apply the bottom of the doors and bumpers with a broken foot.

Today I tried to buff out the rest of the SG. It's not so much haze that's left behind but these parallel streak marks that you really have to buff at to get out. Once you do the finish is mirror smooth. Well, then it started to rain (how else?) and I had to drive into NYC for an xray. I noticed the water beading up on the car but I think I need a higher level of waterproofing. (I recently bought nixwax for my winter gear and waterproofed everything in sight...pants, jackets, gloves, bags, including my my cast/boot.) I'm going to procure a tub of P21S and apply as weather permits after a handwash in the coming weeks.

The car had tiny brown rain spots from the filth that rained from the skies but still it retained that shine. I swiped a cloth on the surface and the spots disappeared. I live in the city in a small apartment, no hose, no driveway, no nuttin'! It's tough to bust out a orbital down the block and get to work; but that's another story. I will work on this exterior because it looks goregous when done. My old Subaru looked "nice and shiny" when waxed in a match-box sort of way. This vehicle is a whole another story it turns heads, people stare, the 10 spoke 17" rims and the sweeping xenons command authority. The other day I returned to my car in a dunkin donuts parking lot and found a guy giving it the walkaround. Then he gave me a compliment and drove off in his 330i all the while looking back. :) :) :)

Slaab (and Brett) thanks for steering me in the right direction. Getting the opportunity to work on my car is tough but well worth the effort.

One more coat of SG and P21S it is!

Q: Does car wash soap (the type used in a hand wash) strip wax as much as Dawn dishwashing liquid?

I'll pick up the Costco microfiber towels.

Tom
