Rear fog lights are becoming a problem too...

Now that most of the Euro cars over here have rear fog lights I often see people driving with them at inappropriate times. I was following an S6 wagon the other day, who somehow managed to get both sides to light up (its normally just the driver's side, right?) It was quite distracting as it looked like he was constantly braking. Then there was the guy I passed last week driving his C230 hatchback with the rear fog on. As I passed him I flashed my rear fog light on and off a few times to give him the message- Apparently to him a flashing red light meant "race starting" and he took off down the highway (foglight still on) Don't ask me how a red light means "go". Oh well, just as well for him- he gets to say he beat an Aero wagon with his little MB!
I think European cars with North American driver training can be a bit of an oxymoron. You get cars with additional safety features and people use them to their disadvantage. I saw a post a while back on the 3-series BB from some guy who was concerned that his foglights didn't match the colour of his Xenon headlights. He was quite concerned. I suppose once he got his "ultra blue mega hi-power" foglight bulbs his quest began to get Xenon brake lights.
Its funny to see people's ideas to get back at the SUV drivers! I have a friend who had a mid-eighties Impala in high school painted all black. He'd sit on the side of the road and then pull out and follow people. They'd freak out and either start driving slower, or occasionally pull over! After he got rid of that, he re-wired the reverse lights in his Trans-Am so he could control them with a switch. You should see how fast people back off when they see your reverse lights come on at 100kms/hr!
My favourite trick with the 9-5 wagon is to remove the plastic cover off the rear wiper pivot- this allows you to shoot a stream of windshield washer fluid about 10-15ft straight back. Everyone likes to feel tough in their manly trucks, but they sure don't like it when you get them dirty!
Alternating headlight flashing like on a cop car would be a fun project, but it wouldn't be possible with Xenons. (And, like others have mentioned, it might not be legal.)
