Depending on how much he takes out of the jeep beforehand, he may have a small fire on his hands using a acetylene torch. The more grease, oil, old paint and interior left in it may provide quite a show!
My father and I cut apart a 1986 Pontiac Fiero that he turned into a Lamborghini Countach. A lot of fun to look at, not so fun to drive... A sawzall works surprisingly well, was fun to chisel the Fiero down to its chassis.
How the car turned out:
-Original V6 engine with very few modifications
-5 speed Isuzu manual transmission (original was 4speed manual)---> new clutch a few weeks after getting the car on the road
-One piece fiberglass shell with custom attach points to the modified and reinforced Fiero chassis
-Springs cut down to lower the car enough to match the Countach profile
-Working scissor doors with a remote cellinoid for opening
-Entirely new interior except for instrument pod (apparently one of the few things needed for licensing)
-Canary yellow with cheap but convincing replica wheels and low profile tires
-The car had so many blind spots, even the most basic maneuvers were difficult.
He probably put a few hundred miles on it before selling it. I drove it once and wouldn't you know, a Viper pulled up next to us at a stoplight. Light turns, we take off and luckily the driver wasn't proficient with a stickshift so we were able to keep up. I think all of us had fun with it. A few months later my father heard of a Viper driver in our (small) town trying to find out who owns the Countach.
