I don't think it's sex specific.
Many new sales reps at high volume dealerships are given a script to follow and never stray from it to try and tailor their presentation to the customer. He/she should have read your body language and certainly should have realized you weren't moving up from a Neon. Good reps will help you make a decision, not batter you with all 24 flavors, whether you want to hear them or not (30 years in sales, here).
I drove a Murano after I'd put a deposit on my wagon. If I were to buy an SUV, it would be the obvious choice at US$30,000. As for utility and comfort (interior noise level plus isolation from crummy roads in Northeast),I'd still rather drive a mini-van. But there's a canyon of difference between driving the Murano and the 9-5 wagon. It's comparing apples and oranges.
For driving long distances under various condtions (road and weather), I think the 9-5 Arc wagon is going to deliver me in better shape than the Murano.
Here's link to a pretty fairly balanced review of the Murano:

And a comparison of three SUV's:

It's nice to have a choice. Happy hunting!
Best,
Greg
