The BBW draws around 300-350k people to the area. This is near twice what the Harley bike event draws. The traffci congestion gets so bad it can take hours to get from one end of town to the other. More people means more police... doh..

One restaurant owner stated that his business drops off substantially during the BBW and people who would go to his place don't because they can;t get there..

A town rep indicated that while the Harley crowd beds down by midnight, the BBW crowd parties all night every night.

It "**looks**" like it is a case of the two events being very different in nature and that the bodies involved are trying to maintain control of the situation.

*If* there is blatent racism affecting the way the town acts that is one thing, but if the race card is being pulled because the BBW people "perceive" they are treated different... well...

The two events are drastically different in size and nature. Any comparison between them needs to take this into consideration.

The BBW group seems to not site any specific incidences, ... why? One sideof any story always sounds good to that side.... with little to no information about the other side, or information about documented incidences... it looks more like a smear campaign that a lawsuit..

Not to mention... does the BBW think they will get better treatment, now that they have tossed a law suit at the municipalities involved. If racism is behind this, then staying in Myrtle would be a mistake anyway, as lawsuits don;t change the minds of bigots and racists.... We've had civel rights law in place for +-40 years and there is still rampant racism all over.... laws and law suits do not change people... time and education change people.....
