9004 to Xenon HID Conversion Kits.. worth it?

Hey hey
Just browsing the web after reading the 'xenon headlight bulbs' post below.
I found several HID conversion kits online, all which retail anywhere from $350-$600. Most or all of them say; they're easy to install, come with a warranty, and are just like the real xenon headlights. After checking out all the parts the kits come with, I don't doubt its basically the real HID system.
I was curious if anyone had any direct experience with these HID conversion kits. Are they actually east to install? Do they actually perform like cars with HIDs? I know how great the benefit of HID lightning is, since we own a car with them, but I wasn't sure if these kits are just like the real thing.
I'd like to hear any insight you may have. This could possibly be my next big summer 'save up' item, as I feel my stock lighting just doesn't cut it while driving through curves late at night on backroads. Then again, I could always save for some E-codes, but pay just about the same amount.
Let me know what you think,
Thanks guys,
Taylor
RIP Kyle & Tim
