After putzing around and many trials with less expensive "upgraded" halogen replacement bulbs, ie Sylvania, etc, I finally got the real solution for both my '89 SPG and my '90 300ZX. Without getting into this whole HID hassle. I spent the $90 (approx) for a pair of PIAA bulbs, and the rest is history. I am very pleased with the light output, the spread, and the intensity, yet I am not blinding people. The bulb life seems pretty good too, as I have not had to replace any yet.
Here in the rainy & cloudy Northwest, with our dark asphalt roads, auto lighting gets a real workout. I always use my fogs as well, stock on the ZX, and better Hella 550s for the Saab. So, call around and see if you can find the PIAA bulbs, I think you will like them, and much cheaper than HID.
