I was told to change the oil on my new car after 1,000 miles because of any particals that could be in it from machining shavings or such on the brand new engine. I was later told that there was no need for it, but I decided to go ahead and do it anyway. I would certainly think a change is needed at 2,700 miles on a new engine, especially if those miles were city or short distance trips.
