It IS a co-ed school, but the women are clearly outnumbered on campus. That doesn't mean there aren't any- I dated an RPI co-ed when I was going to Siena. Luckily, there is an all-female school in Troy (Russell Sage), and plenty of women at Siena, UAlbany, St. Rose, Union, and other schools in the area.
The campus is very nice, with world-class facilities, but the city of Troy has seen better days. When I'm there, I usually find myself going to the Troy brewpub or Troy Savings Bank music hall (don't let the name fool you, the room has acoustics rivalling legendary european concert halls.) Either that or driving straight through on the way to Vermont ;o)
However, if socializing and partying are really that important to you, you might not want to go to a school as academically demanding as RPI. MIT students who enjoy all the cultural events in Boston don't tend to remain MIT students very long, if you get my drift...
