coffee can exhaust to get my thrills. In the future I do want a nice air-flow body kit, larger stock looking exhaust, window tint with a tastful Saab logo on the top of the windshield. This would complete the exterior look. I really like working on this car when money permits. It is becoming quite a unique car. These cars are not overly complex so they are fairly simple for my Saab tech and I to work on. My tech jokes that he doesn't even use the fualt codes because it is so easy to find the problems. I'm really glad I don't have too much computer stuff that can fail. This is why I would rather keep this car and not get a new car that has been taken over by computers.
'91T engine at 185hp. Mech is going to rebuild Black Box for higher boost that will hold as well as different fuel reg and some other small stuff. This '91 engine doesn't knock under load and doesn't leak or burn oil and no coolant loss as compared to my old one. '91 engine has 87K on it now so it is a baby engine. I run Mobil 1 10w30 and in the rebuilt 5 speed tranny with big pinion I have been using Honda MTF with great results. Shifting is very smooth.
Heavy load springs in rear with spring spacers for camping and hauling loads. Koni adjustables all around and 215/45/17 Proxes FZ-4s on Ronal RTs. (this is a 7.5" rims so that was part of the reason for the heavy load springs with spring spacers to prevent rubing on bumps.) The car really handles well on turns now. The tires grip really well, even on wet roads. The Konis are great. Real stable but not too harsh. Rears on max damp and front on min dampening. It is a blast to take a high speed turn on feel the car grip and move through it. Pretty great for a 15 year old car.
I have an early 80s hood that had two vent holes so I covered the extra one up with a tastful hoodscoop the I'm working on hooking up to the stock air box.
I have the jumbo yellow top Optima battery which I think is 1150 CCA. This batt has so much juice that when I start the car when the stereo is already on the stereo doesn't cut out at all. The stereo with install was $3200.00 and was worth it. MB Quart 4.25" in dash, MB Quart 8" in sealed air space in doors, JL Audio 12" sub powered by Fosgate 360.6 rated at 648 watts total power. Also use Audio control 9 volt pre-amp. 10 disc changer by spare tire under hatch.
When I get a bigger exhaust in the future the batt will go in the hatch next to the sub.
As you can see I'm a bit addicted to this car and I think it's a good addiction because I get so much enjoyment out of it and it is my daily driver and a truck when I bolt the pallet to the bike rack. I built an office and deck and used the Saab to haul everything.
Check out the interview with Michael M and the new '04 conv stuff on Saab USA website. Really cool.
Good chatting with you. You can see a couple of pics on C900 board under "And the other one" and " Attn KB88900T(with the hood scoop!). I will get more pics up someday when my car looks better.
Happy Saabing.
