Lame argument, Nathaniel. The reason gas is more expensive in Europe is because the governments do not subsidize it like the US Government does here. This reflects back to my original comment.
With regards to towing capacity, with the exception of larger boats and some campers, most cars can tow up to 2000 lbs or more. Thus, your jet ski's, snow mobiles and all the other crap can be towed by a car.
Road quality is poor in the US, the US government has by far more roads to maintain via state DOT's than any European nation, thus it's harder to keep up the maintenance from a money and time standpoint. Frankly, the handling of an SUV on the highway is not even a comparison to my Saab. SUV's are all over the place with regards to handling.
On higher seating. That's a load of you know what. Unless you're higher or as high as the driver of a tractor-trailer there's no difference.
I didn't realize so many people on a Saab web-page liked SUV's. WOW! I have to say it's suprising.
