I understand the perception although I am not sure how critical the material is in this regard. We have had to have a number of repairs on our kevlar solo but never to our glass tandum. However, this might be more an indication of design considerations than material. Kevlar models tend to focus on performance which has tradeoffs that can impact durability. That said, I have heard that kevlar and epoxy have characteristics that probably don't make then as well suited when combined as epoxy and glass. Can't say I really understand the details but it sounds like the result is a boat that can't take the hard knock as well as glass/epoxy despite the superiour strength and stiffness of kevlar as a material. Still I think you need to really look at it on a boat by boat basis. I assume outfitters aren't going to be interested in boats that won't give decent service.
